Vicky creates ceramic compositions that explore the printed surface and the relationship of the objects and the space they occupy. Surface qualities, mark-making and colour are an important aspect of Shaw’s practice. She has become known for my use of direct screen-printing techniques that explore abstraction, colour and pattern. She studied at Staffordshire University, on completion of postgraduate study she became a research fellow at the University of Wolverhampton specialising in ceramic printing. Appointed as a lecturer at Wolverhampton she taught there for twenty-five years, she has also been a visiting lecturer in a number of institutions in the UK as well as taking part in teaching projects in Europe, Scandinavia, North and South America.She is a member of Contemporary Applied Arts in London and has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally.She has work in a number of public and private collections in the UK and throughout the world and has received a number of awards for her work including; an Honorable mention at Mino, Japan, a Diploma of Honor at Icheon World Ceramic Centre, Korea.Most recently she was an invited artist in residence at the Jingdezhen Asia Europe America Ceramics Art Centre in China.
