This is an example of what I make and sell most, with this Sea & Sky style of glazing very popular with gallery sales. It has been inspired by the shorlines of Argyll islands but the abstract nature of the layering allows people to see their own special place.

Sea & Sky stacking serving dishes

I am strongly influenced by the depth of skill that the old master potters can offer us but I am drawn to contemporary shapes of clean lines and no fuss. These serving dishes (again with Sea & Sky glazing) show the simple pleasing form of wide cylindrical simplicity.

Glenkin - Huggable bowl

Glenkin is one of many local walking trails. I use an iron rich clay I found there to create the dark swoosh round this bowl. To me is represents the freedom I feel when there. This huggable dinner bowl is a popular seller on my online shop.

Pebbles - tray

This tray is part of a current design development to capture the look of our local pebble strewn shorelines. The tray shape and also tall lidded storage jars were developed initially to see how layers of dark slip and soft cream glaze might react to texturing and carving techniques.

Argyll Winter glazing

Keeping to the practical everyday nature of what I want my pottery to be used for, this is an example of the latest development of my Argyll winter glazing on two favourite contemporary forms. Inspired by the layers of subtle colour and patterns formed in icy puddles on local forrestry track.
