Set of four houses (ref. 7325)

The sculptures are intended as vessels for reminiscence and contemplation.

They unlock a recognition of an essential human need for both isolation and community, and a narrative of memories of place.

This set of four is from my current collection, and will be exhibited at Cambridge Contemporary Art in October 2020.

Two houses on rocks

Times of upheaval and change resonate in feelings of instability and a determination to look for something to cling to and be supported by.

Each house on a rock is my response to a place we currently find ourselves in.

These sculptures were made for an exhibition with Cavaliero Finn May 2020

Looking at buildings, particularly abandoned structures with their history-revealing surfaces informs my work.

Years of erosion and environmental damage have left the houses perched on high sheer sided rock plinths seemingly cut off and impenetrable. There is a note of precariousness.

The piece is sculpted out of two blocks of clay, the house and plinth made separately, then joined together.
