Kathryn Williamson Jewellery explores family and memory drawing inspiration from her lifelong obsession with collecting.Inherited plus found objects from walking the shoreline inspire her choice of shape and form while inherited textiles and ceramics celebrating Scotland’s rich decorative heritage inspire her development of pattern. Each object is an aide memoire to her past and has always been made by human hands.Designing in her sketchbooks then experimenting at the bench leads to her collection of jewellery.Elements of found beach ceramics plus acrylic laser engraved with her pattern designs are combined with textured or etched hand crafted eco silver creating a subtle blend of colour and harmony.Balance is carefully considered in the manner of museum curation where each element has a different narrative or provenance.Awards include highly commended at the British Craft Trade Fair in Harrogate plus 2 Highly Commended at Scotland’s Trade fair where she was showing her work on the Craft Scotland stand.
