Visual Arts and Crafts Awards
Visual artists and crafts makers in Scotland can apply for funding through awards developed in a partnership with Creative Scotland and local authorities and arts agencies across Scotland.
These partnerships give support at a local level and work with local panels to offer funds to practitioners to develop their creative practice through new work, new skills or new opportunities. The awards are tailored to the needs of local artists and makers, so be sure to read the guidelines for your region carefully. In general, the panels will want to hear about your work, your ideas, and your track record. Priority will be given to those that clearly demonstrate the quality of work and an ongoing commitment to developing their craft practice. Funding is provided to enable artists to develop a long-term commitment to their practice and to produce a body of work over time. However the panel will be looking for development in the work, so a proposal that does not show a development is unlikely to be successful. Many schemes are looking for how a specific project can support this progression. You can read full guidelines for the awards on the Creative Scotland website, and the guidelines for your local authority region will be listed on their own site.
There are currently 13 partners working with Creative Scotland to deliver schemes across Scotland from the Borders to Shetland. Find details on Creative Scotland, or visit our Opportunities page where we list any awards with upcoming deadlines.
