Violetta Pretorius Beadwork

Violetta Pretorius is a self-taught bead artist located in Aberdeen. She was born in Poland, lived in South Africa and the USA, before permanently moving to Scotland. She is inspired by her surroundings, but predominantly by architecture and landscapes of places she has visited and lived in. She is fascinated by the suppleness of the beaded fabric and encourages all to interact with the pieces to feel their lightness and softness. Her work has naturally progressed from knitting and crocheting to designing and creating one of a kind 3-dimentional geometric jewellery and fashion accessories. She strives not to repeat any of the designs making each piece unique. Violetta’s work has been featured in the Contemporary Geometric Beadwork vol II book, with new pieces being included in the upcoming vol III. “With a Twist” bangle won a top prize at the 2017 International Bead Competition in Stuttgart.
