Roslyn Leitch
Roslyn Leitch creates jewellery using maximalist combinations of precious metals and linoleum, drawing inspiration from mechanical shapes, forms and movement. She is a Jewellery and Metalwork graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, and works from her home studio in Markinch, Fife.
Traditionally a flooring, linoleum is a wonderful, sustainable, warm material, made from easily renewable ingredients such as linseed oil, cork powder and other organic additives. It also contains natural anti-microbial properties. The material has manufacturing roots close to Roslyn's home. Members of her family worked in the local factories and offices which have supplied the world for over 140 years. She fondly grew up with the floor covering in her home and loves what is know locally as the 'queer like smell' which often fills the air around the factories.
