Rachel Davies creates contemporary mosaic art using slate, stone and glass. She combines traditional and modern techniques to process her materials which she then uses to build mosaics, with an emphasis on creating texture and movement. Her inspiration comes from the beauty of the natural materials themselves, as well as the Scottish landscape surrounding her. Many of her works reflect her concern for the natural world.
Rachel trained with a number of mosaic artists while living in the USA, and later returned to Scotland to set up her own studio. She currently splits her time between her private studio practice and teaching mosaic skills to others, both in person and online. She is regularly invited to run workshops in other parts of the UK. Her work has been exhibited throughout the UK and she regularly completes commissions for private clients.
Rachel is a professional member of the British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM)
