Created as an exploration for my "Ancestral Connections" project with the aim of considering ways to represent flows of information across seven generations of a family. Inspired by my own family's seven generation connection to the weaving trade in NE Scotland, it incorporates fibres that my ancestors worked with.

Come Rain or Come Shine (half-scale macquette)

Half-scale macquette for work representing the weather pattern during one hour of Storm Ciara at Cove Park (Scotland), imagining how an “umbrella of the future” might need to function in response to climate crisis-induced changes in weather. 2D fabric wall hanging (in progress on the loom) encoding the DNA sequence for a human gene required for cardiac muscle contraction. The DNA sequence determines the pattern created.

Blanket handwoven to a unique pattern based on the DNA sequence for a human gene required for cardiac muscle contraction. This is the same pattern as shown for the wall hanging (in progress, on the loom) with a very different appearance due to the different yarns used.
