Charlotte Cadzow is based in East Lothian and combines a studio based practice at home with teaching at local schools and site specific projects, private commissions and residencies.She graduated with a Bachelor of Design Honours Degree in Ceramics from the renowned Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. Her work is functional, decorative and practical. Combining different techniques with clay, throwing and hand-building to explore ideas inspired by her imagination and experience. Having grown up on a farm she has also worked and travelled in Japan and New Zealand where she was influenced by the culture and landscapes. She is inspired by nature, mythology and ancient Japanese and Korean ceramics.She works mostly with Stoneware clays, glazes, oxides, and enjoys experimenting with textures and expressive brushwork. Her ideas and ceramic pieces are worked out through drawing and painting.She enjoys the challenges of working on personal commissions with private clients as well as developing work for exhibitions. Her work has been shown extensively and she has completed many private client commissions for homes and interior projects, as well as the Michelin starred Martin Wishart restaurant in Edinburgh, a range of children’s Stoneware ceramics for Edinburgh Preserves and functional
