At his studio-workshop in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Angus Ross bends, moulds, sculpts and folds wood to create site specific furniture for private clients and public spaces. The scale varies from intricate cabinets to groups of large, exterior, functional art works. He also has a range of limited edition and micro-batch production domestic furniture.

During twenty-five years as a maker Angus has been fascinated by wood as a material for making and since 2003 with our native trees, as an essential part of our natural heritage. He is part of a collective caring for an ancient bluebell wood which resulted in a supply of oak unsuitable for traditional cabinetmaking. This led to a deep exploration into the art of steam bending. He is now well regarded for achieving new precision, complexity and scale using steam-bending to create gorgeous curvaceous furniture.

As a designer, Angus is principally concerned with interaction, function and narrative. He has a background in product design with a BSc Industrial Design from Napier University, 1985 followed by experience designing with plastics for mass manufacture. He retrained in furniture making at Rycotewood College, Oxfordshire.
