Studio Ali Forbes

Ali Forbes is a Glaswegian jewellery design graduate of the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, London. She first discovered jewellery making and design when she participated in an HND course at Cardonald College, Glasgow which specialised in teaching traditional jewellery making bench skills, stone setting, goldsmithing and silversmithing.During her final year at the Royal College of Art Ali won the Swarovski award at the talent scouting competition International Talent Support in Trieste, Italy, and after graduation worked as a jewellery designer for Swarovski for a year in Austria. This time spent in the Austrian Alps informed her jewellery collection Urban Folklore which is a layered illustrative modular collection of leather, wood and metal jewellery pieces inspired by alpine folklore and fairytales. Since working for Swarovski Ali made a move into art fabrication and set design creating her own designs and those for other artists while also maintaining her own jewellery practice, and she has now moved back to Glasgow, Scotland to focus solely on her own studio practice.
