Up on the second floor of White Stuff, visitors were delighted to see a charming selection of textiles, homeware, lighting and jewellery. It was amazing to see the public engage with makers and learn more about the inspiration and provenance behind their work.

2016 saw 31 makers from around Scotland to showcase the very best in Scottish contemporary craft. We showed you the minimal ceramics of Natalie J Wood and intricate knitted textiles of Hilary Grant. There was dramatic lighting from Yellow Broom, vibrant prints from East End Press and sophisticated jewellery from Filipa Oliveira, to name a few.

As part of the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design we hosted a series of Meet Your Maker events in White Stuff. Chantal Allen, from Warped Textiles, demonstrated how colour compositions can alter a pattern with paper weaving. Laura Spring shared her pearls of wisdom from five years in business, talking about the value that commissions and collaborations bring to her creative practice

Visitors experimented with some simple textural knit techniques with textile artist Lucy Donnell. Jo Pudelko taught participants to use a traditional jeweller’s saw to create colourful acrylic pendants. Jewellery designer Eleanor Symms, whose work combines reclaimed and precious materials, shared her unique approach to making.

It was an absolute pleasure taking part in the show - I loved it! I'm so pleased with the reaction to my baskets and I've had lots of interest from retailers looking to stock my work.
