All Across ScotlandScotland’s art colleges play an important role in Scotland’s vibrant craft sector. World-renowned as centres of excellence, they encourage their talented students to be ambitious and experimental with their materials.
Starting in 2018, the Craft Scotland Graduate Award is an initiative we have developed specifically for undergraduates who make works in a craft discipline that we support. Currently, this is offered to one graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Glasgow School of Art, Edinburgh College of Art and Grays School of Art.
The selected graduates for 2019/20 are:
Alison Thyra Grubb, Grays School of Art, Robert Gordon University
Claire Frickleton, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee
Harriet Jenkins, Glasgow School of Art
Jasmine Linington, Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh
Learn more about the selected graduates and explore their practice with the Craft Directory.
As the national development agency for craft, we are committed to supporting graduating makers and encouraging them to continue their practice in Scotland. The award is judged by members of the Craft Scotland team and one member of our independent advisory group of makers, who will select a graduate who is making high-quality craft objects from each of Scotland’s art colleges. While selecting, the judges will refer to our Maker and Quality Criteria for guidance.
Each recipient of this award will receive an award of £100, a feature on our Craft Journal and a Craft Directory maker profile for one year from graduating. This will place them alongside some of Scotland’s most exciting emerging and established makers. Read more about the Craft Scotland Graduate Award 2018/19.
