National Museum of Scotland

The National Museum of Scotland houses diverse collections that will take you on a journey of discovery through the history of Scotland and around the world, taking in the wonders of nature, art, design and fashion and science and technology – all under one roof.


 

Museum Opening Times

 

Daily: 10am to 5pm


Access

There is level access to the Museum via the main doors to the Entrance Hall on Chambers Street and the Tower entrance at the corner of Chambers Street and George IV Bridge.

Accessible parking at the Museum
Four designated public parking spaces are available for disabled visitors in Chambers Street. There is no charge for these spaces. However, please note that they cannot be booked in advance.

Getting around the Museum
Wheelchairs are available for loan at no charge. Please note wheelchairs cannot be booked in advance. On arrival, ask about availability at the Information Desk. Small mobility scooters are permitted inside the museum.
Lifts are available to all floors and there is a variety of seating throughout the museum.

Accessible toilets are also available on most floors and there is a Changing Places (U) toilet in the Entrance Hall on Level 0. You can download a map of the museum to see the exact locations of these lifts and accessible toilets.

There is an induction loop at the Museum Information Desk and in the Auditorium and Dunfermline Room lecture theatre.

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are admitted.


Travelling to the event

Craft Scotland encourages you to use greener methods of travel to attend the conference.

Bike

Edinburgh is a cycle-friendly city. At peak times, cyclists can share the buses' green lanes and many junctions have advance cycle stop lines. Cycle racks are available on Chambers Street to park your bike.

Bus

A number of buses go via the city centre and stop outside the museum on Chambers Street, or nearby on George IV Bridge and South Bridge. Single and day tickets are available. Visit the Lothian Buses website for further information.  

Train

The nearest train station is Edinburgh Waverley. The Museum is a 10-15 minute walk away. Visit www.travelinescotland.com for further details and to plan your journey. 

Car

Follow signs to the city centre. Off-street parking is available at nearby at NCP sites.
